IN THE HEART OF MIAMI'S SOUTH BEACH at 18th and Collins Avenue, adjacent to the Redbury Hotel South Beach, award-winning Chef Tony Mantuano brings his nearly 30 years of culinary prowess at Chicago's four-star Spiaggia to Lorenzo, a casual elegant restaurant showcasing his signature authentic Italian cuisine.

Lorenzo offers locals and visitors alike a destination restaurant for lunch, dinner, cocktails and after-hours bites. The menu features hand-made and imported dried pastas, pizzettas from the Italian-imported wood-burning oven; hot and cold antipasti; crudo; meats, fish and seafood off the grill, house-made gelato, Italian caffè and more.

Guests will delight in high-quality imported Italian products coupled with ingredients from the best local farmers, fisherman and producers.

Wine Director Cathy Mantuano pairs the menu with Italian wines, champagne and sparkling wines. Celebrated mixologist Michael Jack Pazdon from Napa Valley's Goose & Gander developed a cocktail program that includes twists on Italian favorites and ones to match the tropical climate of Miami.

Rivak Albazi of Chicago’s Albazi Architects has led the transformation process of the former Fairfax Hotel to Lorenzo. The hotel's original lobby has been modernized by adding contemporary layers to the traditional art deco design. The historical sage-mint terrazzo floor has been preserved and is complemented by refurbished oak wine barrels that act as ceiling tile. Light woods, clean lines, white marble and globe lights complete the restaurant’s design to provide a warm, welcoming atmosphere for guests.

This is Chef Mantuano’s first restaurant in Miami, adding to his four restaurants in Chicago: the four-star Spiaggia, Cafe Spiaggia, Bar Toma, and Terzo Piano.

MOST OFTEN RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE CHAMPIONS ON SEASON TWO OF BRAVO'S "TOP CHEF MASTERS," CHEF TONY MANTUANO is also internationally regarded as an influential culinary force. He is the chef/partner at Spiaggia, Chicago's only four-star Italian restaurant, and has been awarded the 2005 James Beard Foundation Award for Best Chef Midwest.

His latest venture is chef/partner of Miami's Lorenzo, a casual elegant Italian restaurant adjacent to the Redbury South Beach Hotel. In addition to Spiaggia, he is also chef/partner at Chicago's Bar Toma and Terzo Piano at The Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago; and owner of Mangia Trattoria in his hometown of Kenosha, Wis.

Mantuano's first cookbook The Spiaggia Cookbook was lauded by Food & Wine magazine as one of the top 25 cookbooks of 2004. In 2008 Mantuano co-authored "Wine Bar Food" with wine expert and wife Cathy Mantuano, which has been the inspiration for WINE BAR FOOD outposts at the 2008-2013 US Open Tennis Championships in New York.

Mantuano has made numerous television appearances including "Nightline", "The Today Show", "Windy City Live," and has been featured in The New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Chicago Tribune, Food & Wine, La Cucina Italiana, Bon Appétit and Wine Spectator, among others.

Mantuano's Spiaggia has received James Beard Award nominations for Outstanding Restaurant in 2006, 2007, 2010 and 2013, and for Outstanding Service in 2008, 2009, 2012. In September 2012 he was named part of the American Chef Corps and a 2012 State Chef by the U.S. Department of State and its Culinary Diplomatic Partnership program.

INFLUENCED BY HER ITALIAN HERITAGE; THE FLAVORS OF GRANDMA'S COOKING, THE FASCINATION OF GRANDPA'S HOMEMADE WINE, and the big family celebrations including both, Cathy Mantuano knew from an early age she was destined to make a career in food and wine.

While working in the dining room of an esteemed Milwaukee restaurant during college, Mantuano met a young chef, Tony Mantuano, with a remarkably similar passion for all things Italian. The couple joined forces and decided to take the best of their respected strengths to Chicago.

Before opening Chicago-based Spiaggia, Mantuano worked in the dining rooms of several Michelin-starred restaurants in Italy including the three-star Dal Pescatore in Mantova and Da Romano on the Tuscan coast in Viareggio.

In 2004, Mantuano co-authored "The Spiaggia Cookbook – Eleganza Italiana in Cucina," which was named by Food & Wine as one of the top 25 cookbooks of 2004 and was also nominated for a James Beard award. The Mantuano's share their experiences and recipes from their favorite wine bars in Italy and southern Europe in their second cookbook, "Wine Bar Food."

A seasoned professional in the restaurant and wine business, Mantuano consults on restaurants wine lists nationwide. At the 2008-2013 U.S. Open Tennis Championship, Mantuano created the wine lists for WINE BAR FOOD, two pop-up wine bars inspired by the cookbook. Her most recent position is wine director at Lorenzo, a casual elegant Italian restaurant on Miami's South Beach, where she has curated an all Italian wine list as well as a large list of sparkling wine and champagne. She is also wine director at Chicago's Bar Toma and Terzo Piano at the Modern Wing at the Art Institute of Chicago.
